One can very easily differentiate a transactional SMS from a promotional SMS based on the Sender-ID it gets delivered from.
SMS Sender ID Prefixes
All sms will ahve prefix as LM, MD, DM,etc which are automatically set by the operator delivering the particular message. Because we work with different SMS gateways in India who internally work with multiple operators who may try to send your SMS via the cheapest & best route possible, the prefix is mostly unpredictable. These prefixes are meant to inform the recipient about the channel used in delivering the SMS. Typically, they use this Prefix information to report a DND/NDNC violation to operators.
